Samsung LN37B550-Feedback by M. Grubert

Excellent value, May 29, 2009

I am agreeing with other reviewers that this is an excellent product with only two attributes that were not as expected:

- Touch of color really is only a “touch”. Without light shining directly on it the frame looks completely black

- Sound quality is poor. The right speaker has a tendency to ring at certain frequency even at low volume.

Picture quality is excellent; the TV set is not too heavy and looks good.

Please note that amazon ships this product via “Pilot” freight services. They will call you 24 hours before delivery is due to set up a time window for delivery. Shipping time was significantly faster than quoted during checkout.

Perfect TV for Limited Space, May 19, 2009

The Samsung LN73B550 is a beautiful TV for an affordable price. If you’re in the market for a LCD less than 40″ then I would highly recommend this one. The colors are sharp and very crisp. Setup out of the box was extremely easy. My only quibble might be the sound quality, but I think that may be due to it sitting in an enclosed entertainment center. Samsung has become a leader in the LCD market for a reason and this TV is a testament to that fact.

Very nice television…, May 15, 2009

Got this instead of the A550, which was well reviewed but criticized for its speakers. This one both looks great and sounds good as well. It’s sound is nothing compared to my theater system, but I have no complaints at all on it. Picture is beautiful.

awesome, May 29, 2009

I have been a loyal SONY fan for decades, I bought this Samsung for the bedroom thinking I was downgrading and I would save alittle money. To my surprise it is my Best TV of the 6 in my house! Picture quality and features blow me away. Time will tell if it is as durable. I am glad I ventured out.

Incredible HD TV, June 2, 2009

I’ve never owned a Samsung product, and have normally purchased Sony products. However, due to price increases by Sony, I decided to consider options. My satellite installer stated that Samsung & Sony were considered to be two of the highest rated HD t.v.’s.

I have nothing but highest praise for my Samsung! Extremely sharp color, focus, and excellent surround sound!

The only problem I had was the shipping company was two days late on the deliverey date.

Great TV for the price!, May 13, 2009

I received this TV last week and so far it has been AWESOME! I would have given it 5 stars but the sound quality is a little muffled. It doesn’t bother us much since we plan on hooking up a surround sound system but if you are using the TV’s speakers exclusively, you may want to reconsider. Picture quality is amazing…best I’ve seen and I did a TON of research before deciding on this model. I was back and forth between plasma and LCD and I’m so glad I went plasma. We have the TV in a bright room and the new filters seem to work great. Not much glare at all. Definitely no more glare than the 36 Sony Wega tube TV this Samsung replaced. If you are not picky about the sound, this is a great choice. After a week, we are not disappointed!

Great *bargain* 26″ Samsung, May 5, 2009

I just bought this TV for my bedroom. It is the perfect TV for that. It isn’t too big that it overpowers the room, and isn’t too small either. I know some people complain about the audio. I think it sounds just fine. I wouldn’t have even thought about it. Like I said, it is in my bedroom and not meant to be a home theater TV. If you were looking for a home theater TV, get something bigger, and get external sound.

I have FIOS HD TV hooked up and an upconverting DVD player via HDMI ports. The picture looks great right out of the box. I set it to “movie” setting since I leave the room darker. The “dynamic” setting is too bright, but might be ok in a very bright room. The “standard” picture is fine. I highly recommend this TV if you are using the HDMI inputs. The picture leaves something to be desired if you are using the coax input or RCA inputs. Quite honestly, stick to a good old fashioned CRT if you are using analogue connections.

I compared this TV to several others, I couldn’t tell the difference in picture quality between it and ones priced up to $300 more. I don’t think 1080P is worth the extra money for a 26″ TV. Watching fast action like a hockey game, there can be some motion issues, but since it is only a 60 Hz TV, that is expected. The 120 Hz would show a slight improvement, but it isn’t bad enough of a distraction to bother me. A lot of people wouldn’t even notice, but some would. Again, it is minor.

I’m very happy with the picture quality in general, as long as it is a digital input, and especially high def. The colors are accurate and the blacks are nice and dark. Dark scenes do not get blurred together, you can see the difference in black levels easily.

If you are looking to spend less than $500 or even $600 for a TV, and you are using digital connections, this is the TV for you.

By the way, Best Buy sells this for $400. Not sure why everyone else has it for more.

Simply amazed!, April 28, 2009

This is my first LCD tv. I spent a lot of time looking at them in stores, reading reviews & finally decided that Samsung would provide me the best value for my money. I purchased this 26″ for my bedroom & it’s the perfect size. I was a little nervous setting it up but it was so simple. From attaching the stand, hooking it up & setting up the menu options. The picture is amazing! The colors are wonderful, the blacks are not washed out at all but appear rich & dark. There are a number of setting options to achieve the perfect picture for you, including adjusting the backlight. The sound is good, for a bedroom tv I’m not looking for a movie theater experience & quite frankly, I wouldn’t expect tv speakers to ever give me that. I would expect to buy separate speakers. The sound is just as good, if not better, then any past tv I have owned. I have a computer desk off to the side & often glance over at the tv and can view the screen just fine from side angles. There’s also a sleep timer for turning both off & on. I’ve watched everything from movies to sports to regular shows. Also, for anyone nervous about getting this tv without HD, it’s looks incredible even without the HD! There are tons of connections on this model too, including 3 HDMI (2 in the back & one on the side). There is a PC connection too but I haven’t tried that or the game mode. I can’t find a single negative thing to say & as a plus, the tv itself has a very classy sharp appearance. Very, very happy!

Fabulous Television, Amazingly Fine Delivery Service, May 11, 2009

Yes, I agree with the other reviews so far that the 32-inch Samsung is simply the best TV of its size. Did extensive side-by-side viewings before buying it, and it worked and looked perfect right out of the box.
Speaking of “right out of the box,” why doesn’t Amazon mention the outstanding delivery service by Pilot Freight? The unit was promised in four days, they called and asked if they could deliver it in three. They had two people bring it in, unpack it and set it up, plug the set into the cable box and plug the DVD player into the set, turn everything on and verify that it all worked. They showed me how to use the control, cleaned up everything and removed all of the packing and clutter. Great job, far better than expected. Both the set and the unexpected white glove delivery service are superb.

Samsung rocks, April 23, 2009

This is my second Samsung HDTV and it’s outstanding. This model includes a QAM turner which I didn’t know much about until I did some research. If you have cable, the QAM tuner allows you to receive an HD signal from the major networks without the need for a special cablebox. I can simply plug in the cable and receive most of my cable channels (but not the digital channels) and the HD signals for CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX and PBS without a box. I was amazed.
